Welcome to Grassroots Free School!
At Grassroots, students pursue their own educational journey in a supportive and nurturing environment. The school’s philosophy is based on the twin principles of self-regulation on the individual level and self-government on the community level.

In 2024, Grassroots School was hit hard by a string of tornadoes that blew through Tallahassee and crossed directly over us. It caused significant damage to both of our main school buildings, destroyed most of our playground and took out so many shady big trees from our lovely old growth campus. At the time, we started an online fundraiser with a goal of $25k to help restore the school and with the generous help of our friends, community and a lot of hard work it paid off big! The main buildings were restored within a year and we increased the fundraiser goal to $50,000 to help put our awesome outdoor playground and campus back together! Thank you so much for your generous support!
