Visit/Volunteer

One of the most productive (and seldom appreciated) educational activities for kids is adults spending pressure-free time with them. At Grassroots, we encourage parents to take a break from their hectic schedules and come play with or share a sandwich with their children. Some parents become regular volunteers, sharing their special interests and facilitating projects.

We welcome interested folks with or without enrolled children to visit and even to volunteer and become a part of our special community. Either Summerhill or Summerhill School by A.S. Neill, or Free At Last by Daniel Greenburg, or In Defense of Childhood by Chris Mercogliano is required reading for enrolling families and volunteers and highly encouraged for visitors. For regular volunteers, we do require an FDLE background check and  fingerprinting in order to be on campus without an immediate staff escort.
